(More customer reviews)I've been on a mission to find a healthy, great tasting, soy free vegan protein powder and I thought I'd finally found it with this product until I read the packaging label.
Right under the statement "When you buy Olympian Labs, rest assured you're buying the best" this appears in fine print:
WARNING: This product contains a chemical known to the state of California to cause birth defects or other reproductive harm."
When I called the company for details, a member of the sales team told me the peas contain trace amounts of lead and they are required to include that statement because they sell in California. He said, you must not live in California or you would have seen this before.
Well actually, I do live in California and I have seen this statement on gas pumps and in the lead crystal department, but never on a bag of frozen peas. I checked the canned goods in my cupboard and there were no warning labels.
I'm reluctant to write negative reviews and I do want to underscore that this product tastes good and isn't green colored.
If they could produce a pea that didn't require a warning label, they would have an outstanding product - especially if they added fiber and offered a vitamin fortified option. In the mean time, I'm back to searching for a good protein powder.
