(More customer reviews)I found this item in the kitchen section at Marshall's and thought, what a great idea! I love cereal for breakfast but I hate taking three different containers to work for cereal, milk and fruit in a big ol' bag, and I like my milk COLD. This looked like the perfect solution.
Big Plus: the cereal section is big enough to fit a substantial portion of cereal. Yay.
Problem One: there isn't much room for fruit under the milk container. If you overfill the bottom with fruit, it pushes the milk container up, making it impossible to screw the cereal section on without it popping back off. I couldn't fit a thinly sliced peach or banana in there without squishing the fruit with the milk container. I could get maybe 1/3 cup blueberries to fit with minor squish damage. Bummer, because I like plenty of fruit on my cereal and I tend not to eat 1/2 bananas that hang around in the fridge and turn dark.
Problem Two: The milk container holds about 4 oz milk, maybe 5 oz. I like a full 8 oz of skim milk on my cereal, enough to cover it completely. So the small milk container was disappointing.
Problem Three: If the ice ring freezes with ANY ripples or bubbles, no matter how slight, the darn contraption will NOT fit back together. The first time I used it, the ice ring expanded too much height-wise; probably only a couple of millimeters too high, but just enough that when I tried to screw the cereal section on, it kept popping back off. I finally wrapped a giant rubber band around the darn thing (which worked OK). The second time I used it, a bit of a bubble formed inside the ice ring, making it impossible to fit the milk container inside it. (The bubble went away when the ice ring thawed.) To solve this problem, I assembled the thing completely and put the whole container in the freezer. The down side is that the whole container takes up much more room than the ice ring by itself. Luckily there isn't much in my freezer besides ice cube trays and a bottle of Tito's.
I still use the thing, but I don't like it as well as I thought I would because of the above problems.
