(More customer reviews)For a -make at home- kit, this is decent. I would not call this award winning Pearl Drink though. I am spoiled for choice since there are three pearl drink shops within walking distance of my home and dozens of others in my community. However, spending $4 a cup for pearl drink adds up so I thought I would try a home kit.
The pros:
1) Nicely packaged.
2) Convenient at home pearl drinks.
3) Enough in one bag for about 5-6 pearl drinks.
The cons:
1) Prep instructions are not consistent. There are instructions on the enclosed package of pearls as well as a seperate printout set of instructions that are different (ie. one says cook for 30 minutes, the other says cook for 50 minutes, etc.)
2) The flavor powder is artificial flavor... don't go back for a second cup too soon or you will probably feel queezy from it.
3) The flavor powder doesn't dissolve easily, better if you use a blender.
4) The pearl in the kit breaks apart very easily (before cooking) so you will have lots of pearl bits that will get rinsed away after boiling. Expect to lose about 1/3 of the package of pearls to breakage.
5) Cooked Pearls do not last more than two days. If you don't have friends or family to share this with, better to just go buy a Pearl Drink.
