(More customer reviews)I was introduced to Autocrat Coffee Syrup and the delights of coffee milk back in 2004 while on a trip to Rhode Island (which is not, by the way, strictly an 'island'). As with many regional food items, the locals could barely believe that we West Coast folks not only had not heard of coffee milk, but that we didn't drink it in copious amounts like they evidently do.
Of the two major brands I sampled, Autocrat has the better taste. Smooth, full-bodied coffee with no bitterness.
The great thing about it is that you can steer clear of coffee house frappe-style drinks and can make them to your exact taste at home. I keep my coffee syrup in the fridge so mixing it with ice-cold milk and a bit of crushed ice in a blender is -- as they say -- easy-peasy! The colder your end product, the more syrup you will probably find necessary, but even a quart of this wonderful concentrate can provide many, many coffee milk drinks.
I don't believe they have ever considered making a decaf version so beware. If you drink a large coffee milk late in the evening, you'll most likely be up for a few extra hours. About like having a large cup of coffee.
And, anyone who might confuse this (even humorously) with cough syrup is just not reading at a 5th grade level. I pity them when confronted by something like "pea shoots" or try to consume "soda crackers" along with an ice cold Coca Cola.
